We are thrilled to announce that our plans for a pioneering, state-of-the-art inclusive living community have received a major boost, with Perth and Kinross Council officially giving the green light for the project to proceed at the prime Glover Street location in Perth city centre.

This decision marks a transformative milestone for our ‘Our Inclusive Community Project’ (OICP). By moving from our long-standing site at Upper Springland to this new, central location, we are securing a sustainable, future-proof home for the people we support, while also protecting more than 200 skilled jobs.

Brian Logan, Chief Executive of Capability Scotland, expressed his enthusiasm for the path ahead: “This is a positive and progressive decision by Perth & Kinross Council, and we wholeheartedly welcome it. This location offers an opportunity for long-term sustainability and integration, allowing us to deliver a modern, inclusive community for people with complex needs. Now we are in a strong position to move forward at pace, and although we have much work to do, our hope is that we can deliver the new community by 2028.”

The transition to Glover Street ensures that our residents, their families, and our dedicated staff will benefit from a location that prioritizes safety, accessibility, and integration into the wider community. Extensive feasibility work, conducted in partnership with the Council and third-party specialists, has already been completed to ensure the site meets our rigorous standards for safety and security.

This project is a true collaborative effort. Perth and Kinross Council’s role in identifying and progressing this site has been pivotal, and we are working closely together on a minute of agreement to finalise the transition.

As always, the OICP is being shaped through co-production. The voices of our residents, their families, and our staff remain at the heart of the design process, ensuring that the new development is tailored entirely to their needs and aspirations. We are committed to maintaining full transparency and providing regular updates to all our stakeholders as we move into the detailed planning and design phases.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support as we embark on this exciting new chapter for Capability Scotland and the community we serve.
