We are excited to invite the people of Perth and Kinross to help shape one of our region’s most ambitious developments in a generation. We are hosting a series of public consultation events to unveil the latest detailed designs for our new inclusive living community, which is set to replace our ageing Upper Springland facility.
Our ‘Our Inclusive Community Project’ (OICP) has reached an exciting new phase, with our plans now firmly focused on a site within the footprint of the Perth Leisure Pool and Dewar’s Centre. This development, which forms part of a wider masterplan led by Perth & Kinross Council, is a significant step toward creating inclusive, sustainable infrastructure for everyone in our community.
Brian Logan, Chief Executive of Capability Scotland, said: “This is a defining moment for the people we support, our staff, and the wider Perth community. These consultation events mark a significant step forward, giving people a real say in how the future of inclusive care takes shape. We know there are important questions to address, and this is the right forum to do that—through open dialogue, shared ideas, and a commitment to transparency.”
To ensure our residents, their families, and our staff are fully informed and involved, we are holding a dedicated internal event at the current Upper Springland site on 31 January. Following this, we are hosting two public drop-in sessions at the National Christian Outreach Centre on 18 February and 11 March, from 6pm to 8pm.
At these sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to:
- View updated designs for the new facility.
- Learn more about our project timeline and future milestones.
- Speak directly with our team, including experts in architecture, finance, active support, and project delivery.
The OICP is a vital project for our charity. Moving from the ageing Upper Springland campus, which faces significant flood risks and limitations for modernisation, to the new Glover Street area will allow us to deliver a purpose-built environment designed around the real-world needs of people with complex needs, ensuring dignity, safety, and a superior quality of life.
This development is expected to safeguard more than 200 skilled jobs and ensure the continuity of care for over 100 people. By working closely with Perth & Kinross Council and the Health and Social Care Partnership, we are creating a project that balances financial sustainability with high-quality, inclusive design.
“Our focus is on delivering not just a new building, but a new way of living,” Brian Logan added. “These events are a crucial part of that journey. We want to hear your views, answer your questions, and show how co-production remains central to everything we do.”
We warmly encourage community groups, stakeholders, and members of the public to attend these sessions and be part of this vital next step.
